Thank you so much for all of this but ESPECIALLY the cellulite part. It genuinely made me feel a little queasy the first time I saw it and I tried to talk to my (brilliant film critic and also extremely tiny) best friend about it but it was hard to articulate HOW incredibly mean and specific and hurtful it felt in context. And then it just never comes back! It's just left there!!
The rest of this is so smart and funny obviously, crazy that no one's paying you 8 millions to fix this script????
it did feel mean!! in a way that felt contrary to what (i think????) the movie wanted to aim for in general, like with the old lady moment and gerwig’s comments about wanting to end the way she did because she wanted to make going to the gynecologist feel normal and not scary… and like the fact that the movie doesn’t seem to realize it’s mean makes it feel worse? i find it confusing and kind of distressing that i have almost never seen that thread mentioned or when i have it’s with the same “haha, you know” air it has in the movie… weird and bad IMO!
and ok like i know right, maybe there’s been an error in the accounting department? (lol j/k seriously thank u for reading! 💜)
